Like the title says. I personally feel that this is where Pokemon games hit their peak. After Crystal, it just seemed to slack off gradually untill I was no longer interested. The main reason was that there was another set of Pokemon. I mean yeah, the second set of 100 (Around there I think) was an awesome thing back at the time. I mean really, like 100 new Pokemon that have never been noted untill then (except a couple like Marril and Lugia that were introduced in the second season/movie of the anime). I believe I was nine when I got silver on the Christmas of the year it came out and it's still my favorite Game Boy game ever.

But the third set was a dissappointment. Yeah, in theory the equation

More Pokemon = More Fun

should be true, but in practice it just doesn't happen. Yes they did add some things like the contests to get away from the battling and some nice new HM moves like Dive, but besides that it just felt as if they were forcing more Pokemon on us thinking that it would work as well as last time.

Now they did remake the Red/Blue games as Fire Red and Leaf Green, and I'm not sure because I didn't play those, but I think they included the new features from the new game series (berries, contests, etc.) into it, right? Now that's perfectly fine to remake a classic with the new style I actually liked that idea. But as for making new games altogether, just expand on what you've already got, I say.

Anyway, that's just my feelings about this topic. Feel free to discuss further if you will. Oh and also, this is about where the anime died for me too. But it died off near the beginning of the first Johto season instead of the end. And Pokemon cards too. And yes, I still have all the pokemon cards I ever got. Cool

Yeah, I liked r/s/e at the time, but I liked g/s/c much better. d/p is pretty good though, I like that gen too. The only major thing I loved in r/s/e was the new pokemon and secret bases.

Also, I have most of my pokemon cards. I left my best ones at my friend's house on accident and then he moved. I've seen him since, but he lost them by now.

Yeah like I said, R/S/E added a lot of nice features to the mix that would be great in redone versions of the older games.

And that's too bad about your cards. I haven't played since I was like 9/10 and I'm 16 now. Kinda hoping to see if anyone was up to dueling over a forum. =<

And another thing I used to hope for was a series of GB (or I guess if they were to make it now, the DS) games in the Orange Islands. You'd get Surf kind early, though.... Unless there were ferrys! =D

Yeah I always liked the orange islands. They had tons of special things that were never seen outside of them, like pink pokemon and crystal onix. Since the second I started coding this game, I planned on adding some of those features in. The pink pokemon thing is a maybe, it's just that recoloring every pokemon dark and pink would take a long time. As far as crystal onix and some others go, they are pretty much guarenteed(sorry, having a brain fart on how to spell that.)

Personally, I like the idea of new Pokemon, but I do believe a limit to the number is being reached. I think the reasoning behind the new generation is: New generation of people, new generation of Pokemon. However, I do believe the anime came to a close well around the Johto period.

And as a side note, I do have ALL of my Pokemon cards from years and years ago. I don't plan on selling them, or my collected games, either.

Yes, Pokemon need a carrying capacity! D=<

Their death rate is like 12, and their birthrate is horrid! A new egg is born every 300 steps, and then it's hatched in about 6,000 steps (With Magma Armor) So pokemon will never reach their carrying capacity, they don't need to eat...>.>
